      A Phoenix, Arizona, jury awarded $5 million to the parents of a young man killed by a big-rig whose driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel and rear-ended the SUV driven by decedent. The jury also found that the defendant driver, Brian Knoll, engaged in misconduct with the requisite state of mind warranting imposition of punitive damages, however, the case resolved prior to the start of the punitive damage phase.

      Semi Explodes In Southern Wisconsin

      CALEDONIA, Wis. - Wednesday afternoon a semi-truck crashed and exploded, igniting other vehicles on Interstate 94 in southeastern Wisconsin.

      Police stated there were multiple victims in the accident, but did not describe the extent of their injuries. A witness to the crash said the semi jumped the median on I-94 near Highway 20 in Caledonia about 11 a.m., caught fire and exploded.

      Investigation Requested After Honea Path Worker Killed Under Garbage Truck

      HONEA PATH, SC – The mayor of Honea Path released a statement Monday saying that the town has requested a third-party investigation into the death of a sanitation worker.

      Richard Ernest Smith, 49, was killed Thursday morning when he was struck by the garbage truck he was working with. The death was ruled an accident. It happened on Pitts Street as the sanitation crew was collecting and emptying trash cans.

      GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — Thursday a train derailed on Poplar Pike in Germantown  after crashing into a garbage truck on the tracks.

      Police said the portion of Poplar Pike between Forest Hill Irene and Poplar Avenue was closed while the accident was cleaned. Police said a portion of the westbound Norfolk Southern train derailed following a crash where it hit a garbage truck crossing the tracks around 1:40 p.m.

      COLUMBIANA, Ohio - The front of a wine shop in Columbiana County suffered major damage after a semi-truck drove into the front of it.

      The accident happened just after 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Wine Connection on State Route 14. The driver also hit a gas meter that forced the neighboring EZ Lube to close until repairs can be made. The truck is property of Fishman Flooring Solutions.
